Personal Assistant Certification

The Personal Assistant Certification course, exclusive to Porter Hills employees, was developed in partnership with Grand Rapids Community College and Partners in Action. In addition to providing care, the graduates are skilled in coordination of daily home management and personal lifestyle activities.

THE GREEN HOUSE® Replication Initiative

Porter Hills’ GREEN HOUSE® Homes

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded a grant to NCB Capital Impact’s Community Solutions Group to support the development of fifty projects across the United States through THE GREEN HOUSE® replication initiative. Under the grant, Porter Hills was able to open two 10-bed Green House homes providing alternative skilled nursing care.

LifeCircles Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)

PACE provides an alternative to traditional senior care services by allowing individuals in need of skilled nursing care to continue living in their home or community setting and receive quality health care and support services on-site at one of our two locations, located at 560 Seminole Road in Muskegon at Tanglewood Park and in Holland on James Street.

Older Adult-Centered Programming at Harvest Way

Since 2000, the Sparta Senior Neighbor Center located at Harvest Way offers a variety of opportunities for older adults to remain healthy, independent, and connected to community. Whether it’s learning a new skill, finding the right exercise class or simply sharing a meal, our ultimate goal is to be welcoming and fun! Many seniors from the greater Sparta area, including residents of Harvest Way, take advantage of this wonderful program.

Emmanuel Hospice

Emmanuel Hospice provides holistic care and support for people who have been given a physician prognosis of six months or less to live. Because a person’s last moments are among the most important, Emmanuel Hospice focuses on not only on comfort but also quality of life. Some of the services include:

  • Helping your loved one live as comfortably as possible, throughout a serious illness

  • Providing medications, equipment, supplies, and care related to pain and symptom relief

  • Supporting you and your family by relieving the burdens of a serious illness

Hospice services are almost 100% percent covered by medicare, medicaid and private insurance.

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids

Generations Child Development Center

The Southeast Grand Rapids YMCA operates Generations Child Development Center at Porter Hills Village offering inter-generational and enriching experiences which facilitate a child’s cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. Full-day programs provide families with the ability to work without worry while their child is in the loving care of YMCA staff members.
