Porter Hills Foundation Receives Grant From Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland
Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland Awards $13,334 for Technology and Recreational Therapy Enhancements at LifeCircles PACE
The Porter Hills Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received a one-year grant of $13,334 from the Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland. This gift will support enhancements to recreational therapy services for participants of LifeCircles Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Holland, Michigan.
Thanks to the Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland, LifeCircles PACE will enhance recreational therapy services by integrating It’s Never 2 Late Technology (iN2L), a picture-based, touch-screen technology system that can be used by participants of all interests and abilities. iN2L has a wide variety of applications and content for social connection, intellectual stimulation, physical engagement, emotional and spiritual support. Currently, 70% or 82 participants at LifeCircles PACE— Holland live with cognitive impairments or dementia, and 29 participants, or 25%, have special needs.
“For participants living with dementia or social anxiety, iN2L technology will provide meaningful activities that will help keep them relaxed, reduce anxiety and engage in the moment,” said LifeCircles PACE Executive Director, Luke Reynolds. “We are delighted to receive this generous grant from the Community Foundation of Holland/Zeeland which will benefit the older adults we serve.”
LifeCircles PACE opened in Muskegon, Michigan in 2009 and, in February 2016, opened its second site in Holland. Now one of thirteen PACE sites statewide, LifeCircles serves 118 participants at its center in Holland. LifeCircles PACE serves older adults living in Muskegon County and portions of Ottawa and Allegan counties.

LifeCircles PACE is a proven, cost-effective alternative to nursing home care allowing eligible participants to live safely in their homes and communities for as long as possible with the help of PACE services. Often referred to as the “gold standard” for the care of older adults with healthcare challenges, PACE is designed to specifically meet the social, medical, and supportive needs of low-income, nursing home eligible adults ages 55 and older. The PACE model is based on the philosophy that older adults with chronic health needs and their families enjoy a better quality of life and are better served when they can remain in the community they call “home.” Lifecircles-pace.org |616.582.3100
